On sheep dope

If we were all clean, what would a dirty world look like? I remember many Hollywood movies depicting the future. In every rendition the common folk lived in dirty, dreary, rainy slums. In each case, big city surrounded them. The rich and powerful lived in the tall buildings over-seeing these people. What was common in these movies was booze and drugs.
In the book 1984, Orwell depicts the same thing. This time the dregs of society lived outside the big city machine. What strikes me in this book was the re-writing of history and the lottery. It’s like the government wrote this book to condition us. Then when it happens we just say “it figures.” There is no outrage or fight back. The common people just roll over and give in.  I say all this because we have arrived. Some of the worst places in a city hold the common people. The government knows it too.
The violence is rarely towards the rich. It’s not safe in the common slum-like areas. The poor steal from the poor. There are more money lending businesses, cannabis stores, and alcohol venders than in wealthy areas. Oh, wait a minute Patrick cannabis is still unlawful. The stores are going up. they are being built as we speak.
At Canada post I sorted lottery tickets to vendors. We sent about 4 times as many boxes to the poor areas in the city. They also get about 1/3rd the junk mail. Why? All their money goes towards dreams and existing. They never improve. They just exist. The rich know it too.
So, government is selling cannabis. They regulate alcohol. They monitor lottery tickets. In all three cases they reap tax benefits. Money that is spent on the people. Ironically that money goes into rich areas far more than the poor. How do I know? Have you spent time in poor areas? Improvements is not a common word. Cannabis stores and drug rehab centers are. There are abortion clinics, distress and homeless centers. In the rich areas too? Not on your life. Big brother is not stupid.
What does God have to say. Sometimes a person can say something that is real but very cold. Jesus said the truth shall set you free. In Matthew 26 Jesus also said that we will always have the poor. It sounds so cold, heartless, and something we don’t hear much: honesty. Recently President Trump told the British that they have caused their own terrorism problems with reckless immigration. It’s cold, heartless, but brutally honest. God promotes honesty. Is it the best policy?
Some other places in the Bible has people being called sheep. It too is brutally honest. Give the people drugs and they smoke it. Give them alcohol and they drink it. Give them money lenders, injections sites, abortion clinics, and distress centers and they will go to them in droves. Why not say no. To be brutally honest they can’t say no, they are just sheep. We are being headed like sheep to buy what the government sells. Do we resist? Not on your life. We believe politicians are liars and cheats but we do what they provide. Are we that gullible and stupid like sheep being lead to the slaughter?
I am not rich. I am not poor either. Yet, I am watching the poor doing the bidding of the rich. These rich on the other hand are not buying lottery tickets, smokes, drugs, and alcohol half as much as the poor. They save their money for better things. The junk mail people know it too. Those areas get double the advertisements than the poor areas do. Do they need money lending places? Do they have cannabis stores on every street? Na, they are not that interested in the government’s needs.
The hard truth is found in revolution. People love to threaten that. Yet, in every revolution in history; the powerful fall and the powerful rise. The rich never ever lose. Yet, like Jesus said “we will always have the poor.” I don’t want to believe the poor are just stupid sheep. Yet, the lotto, cannabis, and alcohol dealers believe that. Why do they believe that? Because poor sheep are told what’s good for them and they just roll over and follow. Unfortunately, it’s because sheep are one thing they can’t avoid: sheep. I’d be on dope to believe anything else.
