Where do we go from here?

In Europe, they are unsettled about their leadership. Some new leaders have 30% approval ratings within the first 6 months. Oddly enough, Taylor Swift is an artist. She produces art in music and visual themes. There has been terrible hatred over the release of her first new single. Why? Don’t artists create? Should hate and disappointment be involved? Why not try and see it as it is? It’s the same with leadership. I’ll admit it’s not been great. Yet, we hired them, didn’t we? What did you see in the beginning.
We say we like artists as long as they do what we like. We like leaders as long as they do what we want. There is a lot of “I” want these days. I have personal rights. I have sexual preferences. I have feelings. There are I’s all over the place. So, what happens when I want turns into I did not get? We won’t let Trump try to lead if we hate him. We won’t support Taylor Swift unless I like her music.
To be fair, it’s our vote and our money. Politicians were hired on hope they will keep their promises. I buy a CD based on expectation of what it will sound like. It seems it’s less about the person we hire or listen to. It’s more about what they will provide. I guess were buying a service. Yet, they are people too. They change their minds, try new things, and fail sometimes. It seems we buy humanity in art. We hire humanity in leadership. They are not robots. That could cause a problem if their human.
Does God buy CD’s? In 1 Samuel, God was asked to hire a leader. The people took it upon themselves to choose a bad leader. 1 Samuel 16 says God chooses from the heart while we choose from appearance. The heart of Trump might be to serve his country. Yet, people don’t care. They hate him regardless of his heart. They hate what they see. Art comes from the heart and mind. People hate Taylor regardless of her artistry. Oddly enough, famous painters have different looking paintings. A music artist can’t have different CD’s?
I just wanted to show you your heart. God looks inside and does not care about the outside mostly. How do people tick? What is their character? Do we hire or buy art based on the heart or what we want? Ironically, hiring a person based on their character might be helpful, yet we pick based on other things. In Europe, there is a Van Gough gallery. The difference in paintings is astounding. Yet, it’s the same man with different pictures and themes. There is a struggle these days in Canada. Our first Prime Minister was a good man. Yet, he caused the Aboriginals harm in that period of time. He did good and bad things. Haven’t we all. Yet, we judge him now on hindsight regardless of the good he did.

This brings me back to where we are going from here. If you hate Trump then who is next? Is Hillary next? Is another African American next? What will you choose? Will they say what you like? Will they paint a picture you crave? Does their character and heart matter? 150 years ago, they had reasons to vote in Sir John A McDonald. He was considered good back them. Today we want spotless leaders. That will be a good trick. After the hate is done, where will you take your country from here?
