Music is everything
Music
is everything. If you ask someone about God, they will give you very different
answers. One will say they believe while others will reject the divine. There
are those who say they believe in a higher power and others that think God is dead
now. However, if you ask about music usually a smile will come on people’s
faces. Everyone is different in what they believe but all those same people have
a favorite type of music.
I am not sure I have ever met
someone who hated music. That said, I have certainly met those who hate certain
types of music. I know a pastor who says rock and roll is of the devil. I could
understand why he says that. Marylyn Manson and Ozzy Osborne might give him the
creeps. Still, there are several Christian rock bands that love God and promote
God. It’s all about your feelings on music.
I love a great song. I find that
lyrics make the song just as much as the tune. Then there is classical. There
usually are no words but the melody makes the music. Some love horns while
others love the brass instruments. There are classical guitar lovers and those
who prefer electric. Everyone loves something that makes music. Are voices your
thing? Are drums or guitars? What about harps and flutes? Who does not find
flutes sweet and soothing.
I personally love all types of
music. This month alone I am going to two country concerts, a philharmonic
event, and a Christian rock band. That about covers it. Recently I have been
introduced to 5 new artists. My music world has exploded with the introduction
to Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, The Black Keys, Train, and the Blues Traveler.
I must say that I am varied and in love with all types of music. I am deaf in
one ear and I bet that plays a role in my passion for what I can barely hear.
What does God have to say about
music? For years’ Christian groups have denounced rock and roll. It seems God
loves country music because country music sings about God a lot. Right from
Genesis forward in the Bible we have songs of Moses, David, and Mary. The
Psalms can be music is guess. God asks his people to play music and they make
songs to honor the Lord. I think music is powerful and God knew that. God does
not hate music, but using it wisely is good for the soul.
There are songs of suicide that have
caused trouble. How about songs of hate and songs of murder. Music can be used
to vent frustration and ideas. Not all music is used for good. However, other
types are sung for love, fun, and to be witty. Music is as varied around the
world as people are. I think song and music explain to the world what type of
culture you are. The writers of music bare their soul in music. We can know
what the times are like in any century through the music they made. Music is
more than just a good tune.
I can hear an old tune and feel my
heart melt. I can feel my heart break. Recently I discovered Keith Urban and
realized he had many songs and albums. It just so happens that he was in town
and I went to the concert. In three weeks I went from not knowing him to
bursting in my hearts as he played my now favorite tunes live. Music is fun. I
love it.
Music makes your heart move. Your
emotion exists because of music. We sing a happy tune or just want silence in
sadness. Sad songs were made for a reason. The words and melody play with our
hearts and minds. I love to work out to boogie music. Yes, I think disco is
fun. What kind of music gets you going? I find I’m all over the map with
flavors of music. Either way we don’t hate the music. You might like some and
despise others, but we all share the love of tune in a guitar or a drum. Sing,
tap, hum, and play music today and embrace the feelings of being alive through
the music you love. Music is everything to everyone and that is why diversity
is such a good thing and music to my ears.
